As part of the 2018-2019 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition, the City of Ocala hosted the Tuscawilla Sculpture Stroll Celebration Saturday, March 17 at the Tuscawilla Art Park.
OCALA, Fla. (March 23, 2018) – As part of the 2018-2019 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition, the City of Ocala hosted the Tuscawilla Sculpture Stroll Celebration Saturday, March 17 at the Tuscawilla Art Park, 223 NE Fifth St. During this event, awards were presented in the following categories:
- Best in Show – Robustae by John Gamache, Ocala, FL
- Second Place – Job by Claudia Lauster, Naples, FL
- Honorable Mention – Navigator by Mike Hansel, Middletown, RI
- People’s Choice – Metal Elephant by James Futral, Fort Myers, FL
The 2018-2019 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition received 117 entries from across the United States and Canada. A selection jury comprised of local community and arts organization representatives selected ten sculptures to advance in the competition, taking place throughout Tuscawilla and the Tuscawilla Art Park for a 20-month exhibit. This exhibit includes works made of sandstone, concrete, aluminum, steel and scrap metal. Unique to the 2018-2019 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition, this exhibit includes a solar-powered and kinetic sculpture, as well as two new installations in Lake Tuscawilla.
This exhibit is open to the public daily at Tuscawilla Park from sunrise to sunset.
